Research an organization before you meet. Even better, look into an organization youre intrigued by before starting your application. A great deal of candidates essentially convey a similar resume and [pretty much] a similar introductory letter to the entirety of the organizations they apply to-this is an error. Truly, any organization that is recruiting is very much aware that most potential representatives are conveying incalculable applications to pretty much any imminent business however managers are keen on candidates who are keen on working forâ them, so on the off chance that you can be explicit in why you need a specific temporary position directly off the bat, youre effectively in front of the opposition. Regularly, a companys site will have an about us segment that subtleties a portion of the better purposes of an association and clarifies what it is that the organization would like to accomplish. In the event that you can tailor your resume and introductory letter to (genuinely) be consistentâ with a companys philosophy, you stand a superior chance in getting a meeting. Investigate your online networking, on the grounds that you can wager that businesses will. To a ton of more youthful individuals (I myself am a millennial, however as the one givingâ this guidance, I will take the freedom of speculation), the idea of potential managers looking at Facebook and Instagram to break down potential workers seems like something your folks instruct you to attempt to keep you in line. For reasons unknown, parental intruding is just a large portion of the fight businesses reallyâ do take a gander at candidate online networking pages, and theyâ do make character decisions dependent on what they find. In view of that, recollect that the meeting doesnt start when you open your mouth; it begins when you open the entryway. Dress fittingly for the position youre applying to-whether that is business formal or easygoing (and if all else fails, its in every case preferable to be overdressed over underdressed). At that point comes the talking part. More significant than what you look like, is the manner by which you talk and what you state. Be set up to reply, yet in addition toâ ask a lot of inquiries. Questioners will ask you inquiries applicable to the activity youre applying for,â but they in all likelihood will hit you with a lot of open-finished inquiries too, (where do you see yourself in five years? Shouldn't something be said about this organization is especially intriguing to you?). These kinds of inquiries are designed for discovering progressively about you as an individual to check whether youll fit in with the organization, not simply the activity theyre hoping to fill. Questioners are additionally anticipating that you should pose inquiries of your own. Not having any inquiries regarding the working environment or your particular desires essentially shouts that youre simply searching for any activity you can get-and no organization needs to recruit a representative like tha t, regardless of whether itâ isâ true.

Sometimes this is called euphemism. Example: The company was broke. The company was financially-challenged. In addition to attempting to use positive adjectives to cast the best light on a negative, we use positive adjectives to aptly describe positive events and people as well. The goal is to use the most appropriate positive adjective. Example: It was the best vacation ever! It was the most relaxing vacation ever! Examples of Positive Adjectives 1. Mr. Jones gave us a challenging test. 2. Those flowers are gorgeous. 3. Your dress looks remarkable today, Mrs. Giles. 4. The children were rambunctious this afternoon. 5. You all are very talkative today. 6. The little girl was animated as she told her parents about her day. 7. The tenacious dog would not let go of the bone. 8. The principal smiled at the quirky child. 9. The experience was educational, to say the least. 10. Let's just say that Mrs. Peters is a rigorous teacher. 11. I do appreciate your youthful appreciation of humor.

Summer of Love - 3032 Words
The Summer of Love The 1960s was a decade of political and social upheaval. The counterculture, which was what the decade was called, became disappointed with all the restrictions and conventions of the straight society. The Summer of Love did not occur until 1967, but the decade was inspired by the Bohemian spirit which was already present in the 1950s; known as the Beat generation. The counterculture gained significant influence in liberal cities such as Berkley and San Francisco. In 1967, Scott McKenzie released his song San Francisco and with this song came rumors of a huge love-in in the summer. This is what fueled the Summer of Love. Leary would become one of the most famous countercultural figures in this era along with Ken Kesey. LSD was a huge part of the spiritual and music scene of the Summer of Love. There was one church which was Tim Learyââ¬â¢s League for Spiritual Discovery; he wanted to keep his religion pure and aloof from social structures. Family Resilience Normal Family Processes Essay
Froma Walsh in the book chapter, Family Resilience: Strengths Forged through Adversity, found in the book, Normal Family Processes, describes how most research conducted about resilience has concentrated on individuals and how they view adversity and resilience. However, in this chapter Walsh presents her framework for family resilience and explains how families can rebound from adversity based on three areas of family functioning: family belief systems, family organization and resources, and family communication. ââ¬Å"A basic premise in this systemic view is that serious crises and persistent adversity have an impact on the whole family, and in turn, key family processes mediate the adaptation of all members and their relationships.â⬠(Walsh, 2012, p. 401) Within these three keys of resilience, Ms. Walsh lays out the framework for coping and adaptation of the resilient family unit. Families use their belief system to make meaning of a particular challenge or predicament. â⠬Å"Well-functioning families approach a crisis or prolonged adversity as a shared challenge.â⬠(Walsh, 2012, p. 407) Being a member of a team, is a large part of facing adversity or challenges. It is easier for a family to face problems than for an individual to take on the challenge themselves. More solutions can come from more people looking at the challenge from different angles. In this model, it is noted that relationships can become stronger as efforts to overcome challenges prevail. Descriptive Analysis of Statistical Data - 3004 Words
Final Project: Statistics II Descriptive analysis of statistical data INTRODUCTION There have always been crimes, from a treachery to an assassination. Happens in every country you can think of, and every government has to deal with it. It is really stressful to try to understand the nature of the crimes: why are they done and where could they happen next. Out of this preoccupation is that we found studies gathering data from communities; we focused on one specific crime: murders. In several communities, it is thought that the murder rate is somehow related to several factors. For instance, it is common to hear that the murder rate depends on poverty and unemployment. Starting from this hypothesis, the database found to make thisâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Now we are using the equation given at the partial F test. It is common that some times one of the independent variables (in this case, percentage of families with income below $5000 and percentage people unemployed) may be linearly related with another independent variable. In other words, there may be a pair of explanatory (independent) variables that measure the same thing or that they depend on each other, so it is recommended to drop one of them because having both causes instability in the model. This means that the equation wouldnââ¬â¢t be as precise as it should. This issue is called multicollinearity. To prove if this is the case in our study, we calculated some numbers called correlation coefficients and variance inflation factors. Basically, the rule is that if one of the correlation coefficient between a pair of explanatory variables is higher than 0.9 there is evidence of multicollinearity. Another criteria is that if the variance inflation factor of each explanatory variable is higher than 10, there is a case of multicollinearity, as well. In our study, multicollinearity was not an issue. Another issue when having more than 1 independent variable as predictors is that the presence of one of them may affect the prediction capacity of the other. For being sure that this wasnââ¬â¢t happening, we proceeded to perform a stepwise procedure. In this procedure one variable is entered to the equation at a time, andShow MoreRelatedBUS 308 Week 5 Final Paper1141 Words à |à 5 Pagesinformed decisions that are supported by the analysis results. With reduced mobility, muscles can become floppy and make movement slower and more difficult, but when muscles are used on a regular basis, they remain firm and move more easily. When supporting moving and positioning activities, it is important to remember that muscles can only move the bones at a joint as far as the joint allows. For example, the elbow and knee joints have limited movement; trying to extend these joints beyond their range can cause painful damage to the joint. Nerve fibres run all the way through the body and send impulses to muscles, which enable the muscles to contract and relax. Nerve fibres are delicate structures and can easily become damaged through poor moving and handling techniques 1. 2 Describe the impact of specific conditions on the correct movement and positioning of an individual There are a number of conditions that can have an impact on the correct movement and positioning of people. We will write a custom essay sample on Sufferers of Parkinsonââ¬â¢s disease or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Arthritis People suffering with arthritis will often have stiff painful joints and frequently have limited movement in the affect areas. Care needs to be taken when moving or positioning arthritic people, to reduce the possibility of causing pain and discomfort. You also need to be aware of the limited movement of arthritic joints and not attempt to move these beyond their limits. Parkinsonââ¬â¢s disease Sufferers of Parkinsonââ¬â¢s disease may experience limb rigidity that can affect normal movement and positioning. When assisting people to find a comfortable position, in either a bed or chair, be careful not to force the rigid limb further than it is able to, as this could damage the joint and cause discomfort or pain. People with Parkinsonââ¬â¢s disease have slower reaction times and it may take a person longer to initiate movement. It is therefore important to give people suffering from this condition time to move and not rush them. People may not be able to tell people if they are in pain, so you should look for non-verbal signs of pain or discomfort. Cerebral palsy People who suffer with cerebral palsy may have contracted muscles or joints causing a fixed rigid limb. Care staff must be aware of the needs of people who suffer with cerebral palsy and ensure that effective communication skills are used when assisting people to move or reposition. Stroke A stroke can have a devastating effect on somebody; it may leave a person with no long-term effects, with a permanent weakness down one side of their body or, at worst, in a deep coma from which they never recover. When moving and handling people who have suffered from a stroke, you will need to be aware of the extent of the stroke and what parts of the body have been affected.

Changed for the Better free essay sample
I watched my mom hobble down the driveway like a drunken zombie, nervously grasping onto my dadââ¬â¢s arms as he assisted her into the car to take her to the hospital. Her legs just simply stopped working. I wondered, ââ¬Å"Whatââ¬â¢s wrong with mommy? Will she come home again?â⬠The last two times my mom went to the hospital, she came home with a new baby brother. But this time, she would have to stay at the hospital for six days to get her treatment. That week felt like a year. I just wanted my mommy home. Watching someone who had been so strong for me, now look so weak was confusing. In 2001, my mom was shockingly diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, MS. After four years of back and forths to the local hospital for week at a time, my mom found a treatment that helps her be the best she can be. We will write a custom essay sample on Changed for the Better or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page A once a month trip to the hospital for a few hours, eliminated most of the pains and gets her back on her feet. Literally. All those years of heartache taught my mom that the little stuff isnââ¬â¢t important. She became a happier person because she was conquering this disease and better yet helping people conquer that disease. My mom was honored the role of being the MS ambassador for New Jersey in 2012, giving her opportunity to shoot a commercial for the Multiple Sclerosis walk, do a radio commercial, and travel around the East Coast giving speeches to other MS patients about her triumphs. She goes into these speeches in high heels, showing women they can get better with time and treatment. Her message is that everyoneââ¬â¢s path is going to be different with Multiple Sclerosis, so you need to find a doctor that fits you. People with MS gather to hear her story to try to find a way to help them. ââ¬Å"Your speech has given me hope that one day I will be better.â⬠My mom has become an inspiration to many victims of this disease. She has also inspired me to get involved with the organization and go be a counselor for a camp for children whose parents have MS. My mom could have sat and said why me and let the disease take over her life. But she didnââ¬â¢t. I look up to her and admire her every second of everyday because she taught me to be brave and fight for what I want. My family went through this disease together and I believe we were changed for the better because of it. Many would think my mom getting a disease would shatter our family. It did for a while but it also changed us for the better. Living with a disease taught my mom to enjoy the little things because what matters is that sheââ¬â¢s healthy. My momââ¬â¢s disease inspired me to never let something negative takeover my life. It has been eleven years since her diagnosis and she has adopted a role to educate and inspire others to fight and never give up.

Why Microsoft Is A Monopoly Essays - MSN, Internet Explorer
Why Microsoft Is A Monopoly Through a combination of tactics that many people would consider monopolistic Microsoft is now involved in almost every aspect of the computer and computer-related telecommunications markets and is emerging as a major player in Internet commerce and on-line media ventures. As of March 1997, 87% of all the software developers were actually developing the Windows bit 32 platform, which is the operating system for Microsoft. Fifty three percent of 2.4 million US Professional developers use Microsoft's visual basic program as their primary development language(1) Microsoft is playing an increasing role in their technical education, forging commercial partnerships with both commercial and academic training institutions. Microsoft's Internet Explorer desktop browser has overtaken Netscape's software for navigating the Internet. Microsoft also has made many alliances with banks and its financial software, Money and Personal Investor, along with its financial server software, Microsoft is emerging as a key player in shaping the on-line financial transaction system of the future. Its ownership of the Microsoft Network(MSN) and its partnership with NBC, which has created MSNBC venture has given Microsoft strong distribution outlets for its emerging range of media content. Its investment in Dreamworks gives it a position in Hollywood movie and music production that can be assembled into its on-line ventures involving interactive multimedia as computers and television combine in coming years. Also Microsoft is working to control the way people connect to the Internet from work and home. Its $425 million purchase of WebTV gives it control of a major avenue for non-PC internet access. Its $1 billion investment in the cable company Comcast and proposed investments in US West cable now make it a major player in designing standards for accessing the Internet over cable. Microsoft's Bill Gates is in partnership in a $9 billion venture to create a low-orbit satellite system called Teledesic that could give high-speed Internet access to anyone anywhere in the world, an investment supported by the US government through a massive free giveaway of radio spectrum to the company. Microsoft has used that financial clout consistently over the last few years to acquire companies and their software and human assets, while sealing financial alliances with a range of partners. While many of the financial details have not been made public, Microsoft spent an estimated $1.5 billion between 1994 and 1996 on acquisitions.(3) Microsoft has purchased many companies buying or investing in over twenty companies in 1996 alone. Its investment have not only been with the $1.5 billion spent on WebTV and Comcast, the $150 million invested in Apple, and the hundreds of millions invested in additional Internet-related companies, including its key investments in audio and video streaming. It has been acquiring key strategic technologies at a rate of over one per month. Surprisingly Microsoft is not at the peak of an industry's size but at an early stage in markets that are expected to explode in the next decade. If unchecked, there is a real possibility of Microsoft becoming a fin ancial and technological mountain dominating more markets and industries than any monopoly has ever dominated. The nature of high technology makes each individual market linked to other markets through a combination of software standards, training skills, development tools and physical architecture that must all be able to work in combination. The key to the economics of networked technology is that products and markets do not stand alone in these high-technology markets but instead reinforce one path of innovation versus any alternative path. An operating system attracts software developed around that operating system, which discourages new competition since any alternative faces not only the challenge of creating a better operating system but competing against a while array of already existing software applications. Businesses train employees in one technology and are reluctant to abandon that investment in training, while the existence of a pool of people trained in that technology encourages other businesses to adopt that technology. And as desktop software has to be able to work with client-server networks and an array of other technologies, it becomes nearly impossible to abandon an established set of technology standards that tie those different parts together. These so-called ?network effects? give an incredible an ti-competitive edge to companies like Microsoft that

Should Canada Have An Abortion Law
Should Canada Have An Abortion Law Canada is among the few countries in the west that has no law governing abortion. The implication is that it is not yet clear whether abortion is an illegal or a legal act according to the Canadian constitution and criminal code. In other words, Canada remains as the only state in the developed world where there is no law which regulates abortion.Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on Should Canada Have An Abortion Law? specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The conservative government handling this contentious issue can be seen as one dealt with utmost cowardice (Herald 2008). Despite the lack of a clear abortion law, abortion in Canada is relatively low in comparison with other nations that have adopted abortion laws (Arthur 2008). Furthermore, the rates of abortion have been decreasing since 1999 although one can be sentenced if found to have committed the act (Arthur 2008). This begs the question, should Canada have an abortion law? The research paper is an attempt to determine whether an abortion law is required in Canada, or not. The major reason why abortion laws are enacted is to limit the number of procured abortions. According to Arthur (2008), abortions can be reduced either through liberalization or repealing anti abortion laws. In other cases, it is used to promote feminism or female rights to have a choice to decide whether they can have a child or they can terminate the pregnancy. In the case of Canada, this has not been clearly stated under the current law since abortion law that existed previously was deemed by the Supreme Court as unconstitutional in 1988. However, abortion is still carried out under certain circumstances such as when sex selection is being conducted or when the life of the mother is in grave danger (Clarke 2009). In Canada, sex selection is not prohibited but it becomes illegal when reproductive technology is applied. Compared with other developed nations like t he U. S there is need to at least have an abortion law that defines the extremes under which it can be carried. In most of the developed states, abortion laws have been enhanced to cater for the public health reasons since no matter the presence of law or risks involved, women cannot be stopped from carrying out abortions.Advertising Looking for research paper on health law? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Illegal abortions kill both the unborn baby and even the mothers. Despite the campaigns by anti-abortion movements, the fact remains that women die because of illegal abortion and there is need to help reduce the number through offer of better medical services. When compared to other countries in Europe which have abortion laws, the rate is almost the same. For instance, Europe has an abortion rate of 12% compared to Canada which has a rate of 14.1% annually (Arthur 2009). The comparison between the two countries o ne with abortion law and another without is more or less the same. Contrasted to US, Canada is by far well since it has the lowest levels of abortion. Like any other government in the world, the Canadian government has the obligation to protect anything that has intrinsic value. Despite the fact that the Supreme Court ruled that a fetus lacks legal status compared to a person and as a result it lacks intrinsic rights, the court did not clear out whether a fetus lacks any intrinsic value like any other human being (Ben-Ami 4). In this line of thought, it can be argued that there is the need to protect a fetus since it has an intrinsic value like any other human being. From a scientific point of view, a baby that is a few hours to be born and one that has already been born have no cognitive or biological differences hence all need protection from the state. This can only be realized through a law which may either be prohibitive or allows abortion as well. A major scientific fact is th at life the life of a human being starts at conception and there is no doubt about that (4). Rather than questioning the morality of the same or arguing when the life begins, a focus should be on whether the unborn child has any value or has the right to live. From a moral point of view, the society or the state has the duty to provide protection. The life of a fetus is of public interest and under the auspices of the Criminal Code; the Parliament is compelled to offer protection to that which is of public interest. Just like Sweden, abortions under the physicianââ¬â¢s watch in Canada are carried in the first trimester of the pregnancy (Ben-Ami 4). In addition, after every twenty weeks, 0.4% of all abortions take place.Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on Should Canada Have An Abortion Law? specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More This seems like a small figure but supposing that 100,000 abortions were carried annua lly, 400 potentially viable babies would be aborted. This is an indication that despite the silence by the state to have an abortion law, abortion is still practiced under the medical circumstances despite the lack of abortion laws. According to Ben-Ami (1), a Quebec woman was sentenced 18 months because she had left a newborn baby in the woods to die. She was sentenced on a lesser charge of manslaughter instead of first degree murder since there was no evidence that she had the intention to kill the baby. Given that the mother carried abortion of the same child in hospital even during delivery, she would be acquitted and not prosecuted. In another scenario, if the doctor or physicians killed the new born under unclear circumstances, the medical practice license would be provoked and the doctor would go free. All three situations are all comparable since a child was to be killed. Therefore, an abortion law would be necessary to put limit on the extent into or circumstances under whi ch abortion should be carried or allowed. This would ensure that all people are treated the same even if they are medical practitioners or mothers. Compared with France, abortion in both states is carried to safeguard the life of the mother in case it is proven to be in danger. However, in France abortion law has been put into place unlike in Canada where no multi-disciplinary is required to certify that the condition of the mother is in danger and that an abortion would be necessary. It would be ethical if a law dictated the medical conditions under which abortion should be carried instead of leaving the law in the arms of independent doctor or physician to solely decide. Any liberal democracy in the world except Canada protects the lives of the unborn. Despite the fact that laws differ from one state to another, protection of the lives of others even if born or unborn is a universal obligation which should not question the morality of the act. Whichever the side one decides to tak e regarding the issue of abortion, the fact remains that abortion is still carried out in Canada. There still remains the need to continue with the debate and draw from the examples of some of the developed countries so as to enact abortion laws which specifies time in which abortion could be carried (Herald 1).Advertising Looking for research paper on health law? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More This would strike a balance between both sides or between the rights and the interests of Canadians which is inclusive of the unborn babies. The absence of a coherent national policy on abortion leads to consequences which have effects on people in Canada. Arthur, Joyce. Canada Does Not Need an Abortion Law. 2008. Web.
