Alka Seltzer Dissolving at Different Temperatures Essay example -- Alk

Alka Seltzer Dissolving at Different TemperaturesThe variable that I allow change impart be the temperature of the piddlethat the Alka Seltzer is assemble in.For my results I will measure the time taken for the Alka seltzer birth control pill to completely dissolve in water at different temperatures. enter variables* Varying surface area of Alka-Seltzer anovulatory drug, i.e. if cut intosmaller pieces or suppress it will increase the surface area. (Ifthe surface area is increased ( much powdered) the graze of replyalso increases. This means that there are more collisions amidthe solid and liquid.)* marrow of tap water H2O used, i.e. volume (ml).* Amount of Alka-Seltzer tablets used, i.e. quantity of tablets.(one is used)* Number of times the base is stirred. (If the resolution isstirred more there are more collisions between the particlestherefore the answer is speeded up.)* Temperature of Water-C. (As the temperature increases so does the mark of reaction. By increasing the temperature, particles movefaster, i.e. they begin more energy. So, they bump around with moreenergy and more frequently.)* pH of Solution Water has pH of 7 at 25C. As the pH decreases,i.e as the solution increases in acidity, the footstep of the reactionincreases as well.Output Variables-----------------Rate of reaction depends on all the 6 points I have stated above-----------------------------------------------------------------* If the surface area of the tablets is increased by crushing, theparticles around it in the solution will have more area to workon, and the rate of reactions will increase because there will bemore collisions. Complete reaction will finish faster.* The more amount of water used as we increase the temperature, thequicker the tablets will dissolve because there will be more waterparticles to collide with. So the rate increases.* If the amount of tablets creation used is increased for the sameamount of water, i.e as concentration increases, rate wi llincrease as well because there will be more collisions betweenparticles.* If the water with Alka-Seltzer tablets are stirred during thereaction, then the rates of reactions will increase because theparticles will be forced to instal pass with each others andreact much quicker, rather than take their time to make contact, and therefor... ... water bath could have been used, because I could set itto my required temperature. besides it would mean that the solution in spite of appearance it would reach the exact temperature or beside to It., and notincrease or decrease once the water inside it has reachedequilibration. It was also very difficult for me to observe exactly when theAlka-Seltzer tablets had totally fade out and consistently decidethis for every result obtained. This was probably the main constituent thatwould have decreased the accuracy of my readings. To avoid thishappening I would have needed to use specialized piece of equipmentwhich would tell me exactly when the tablet was dissolvedOverall, I can come to firm conclusion from my results that certification myprediction and background knowledge that As the temperatureincreases, less time will be required for a reaction to take placei.e. the rate of reaction increases. To improve the experiment overall I could use distilled water to avoidinaccuracies related to the hardness of tap water. I believe I shouldget a straight line curve.Another improvement I could have made is to increase the range of thetemperatures investigated. (10C to 100C).
